He discovers a great reluctance to return on former periods of his life. To all that has not been shared with her, rights and duties, bygone fortunes and dispositions, he can look back only by a difficult and repugnant effort of the will. That he should have wasted some years in ignorance of what alone was really important, that he may have entertained the thought of other women with any show of complacency, is a burthen almost too heavy for his self-respect. But it is the thought of another past that rankles in his spirit like a poisoned wound. That he himself made a fashion of being alive in the bald, beggarly days before a certain meeting, is deplorable enough in all good conscience. But that She should have permitted herself the same liberty seems inconsistent with a Divine providence.

A great many people run down jealousy, on the score that it is an artificial feeling, as well as practically inconvenient. This is scarcely fair; for the feeling on which it merely attends, like an ill-humoured courtier, is itself artificial in exactly the same sense and to the same degree. I suppose what is meant by that objection is that jealousy has not always been a character of man; formed no part of that very modest kit of sentiments with which he is supposed to have begun the world: but waited to make its appearance in better days and among richer natures. And this is equally true of love, and friendship, and love of country, and delight in what they call the beauties of nature, and most other things worth having. Love, in particular, will not endure any historical scrutiny: to all who have fallen across it, it is one of the most incontestable facts in the world; but if you begin to ask what it was in other periods and countries, in Greece for instance, the strangest doubts begin to spring up, and everything seems so vague and changing that a dream is logical in comparison. Jealousy, at any rate, is one of the consequences of love; you may like it or not, at pleasure; but there it is.

It is not exactly jealousy, however, that we feel when we reflect on the past of those we love. A bundle of letters found after years of happy union creates no sense of insecurity in the present; and yet it will pain a man sharply. The two people entertain no vulgar doubt of each other: but this pre-existence of both occurs to the mind as something indelicate. To be altogether right, they should have had twin birth together, at the same moment with the feeling that unites them. Then indeed it would be simple and perfect and without reserve or afterthought. Then they would understand each other with a fulness impossible otherwise. There would be no barrier between them of associations that cannot be imparted. They would be led into none of those comparisons that send the blood back to the heart. And they would know that there had been no time lost, and they had been together as much as was possible. For besides terror for the separation that must follow some time or other in the future, men feel anger, and something like remorse, when they think of that other separation which endured until they met. Some one has written that love makes people believe in immortality, because there seems not to be room enough in life for so great a tenderness, and it is inconceivable that the most masterful of our emotions should have no more than the spare moments of a few years. Indeed, it seems strange; but if we call to mind analogies, we can hardly regard it as impossible.

“The blind bow-boy,” who smiles upon us from the end of terraces in old Dutch gardens, laughingly hails his bird-bolts among a fleeting generation. But for as fast as ever he shoots, the game dissolves and disappears into eternity from under his falling arrows; this one is gone ere he is struck; the other has but time to make one gesture and give one passionate cry; and they are all the things of a moment. When the generation is gone, when the play is over, when the thirty years’ panorama has been withdrawn in tatters from the stage of the world, we may ask what has become of these great, weighty, and undying loves, and the sweet-hearts who despised mortal conditions in a fine credulity; and they can only show us a few songs in a bygone taste, a few actions worth remembering, and a few children who have retained some happy stamp from the disposition of their parents.
IV. — Truth of Intercourse

Among sayings that have a currency in spite of being wholly false upon the face of them for the sake of a half-truth upon another subject which is accidentally combined with the error, one of the grossest and broadest conveys the monstrous proposition that it is easy to tell the truth and hard to tell a lie. I wish heartily it were. But the truth is one; it has first to be discovered, then justly and exactly uttered. Even with instruments specially contrived for such a purpose — with a foot rule, a level, or a theodolite — it is not easy to be exact; it is easier, alas! to be inexact. From those who mark the divisions on a scale to those who measure the boundaries of empires or the distance of the heavenly stars, it is by careful method and minute, unwearying attention that men rise even to material exactness or to sure knowledge even of external and constant things. But it is easier to draw the outline of a mountain than the changing appearance of a face; and truth in human relations is of this more intangible and dubious order: hard to seize, harder to communicate. Veracity to facts in a loose, colloquial sense — not to say that I have been in Malabar when as a matter of fact I was never out of England, not to say that I have read Cervantes in the original when as a matter of fact I know not one syllable of Spanish — this, indeed, is easy and to the same degree unimportant in itself. Lies of this sort, according to circumstances, may or may not be important; in a certain sense even they may or may not be false. The habitual liar may be a very honest fellow, and live truly with his wife and friends; while another man who never told a formal falsehood in his life may yet be himself one lie — heart and face, from top to bottom. This is the kind of lie which poisons intimacy. And, vice versa, veracity to sentiment, truth in a relation, truth to your own heart and your friends, never to feign or falsify emotion — that is the truth which makes love possible and mankind happy.

L’art de bien dire is but a drawing-room accomplishment unless it be pressed into the service of the truth. The difficulty of literature is not to write, but to write what you mean; not to affect your reader, but to affect him precisely as you wish. This is commonly understood in the case of books or set orations; even in making your will, or writing an explicit letter, some difficulty is admitted by the world. But one thing you can never make Philistine natures understand; one thing, which yet lies on the surface, remains as unseizable to their wits as a high flight of metaphysics — namely, that the business of life is mainly carried on by means of this difficult art of literature, and according to a man’s proficiency in that art shall be the freedom and the fulness of his intercourse with other men. Anybody, it is supposed, can say what he means; and, in spite of their notorious experience to the contrary, people so continue to suppose. Now, I simply open the last book I have been reading — Mr. Leland’s captivating English Gipsies. “It is said,” I find on p. 7, “that those who can converse with Irish peasants in their own native tongue form far higher opinions of their appreciation of the beautiful, and of the elements of humour and pathos in their hearts, than do those who know their thoughts only through the medium of English. I know from my own observations that this is quite the case with the Indians of North America, and it is unquestionably so with the gipsy.” In short, where a man has not a full possession of the language, the most important, because the most amiable, qualities of his nature have to lie buried and fallow; for the pleasure of comradeship, and th
e intellectual part of love, rest upon these very “elements of humour and pathos.” Here is a man opulent in both, and for lack of a medium he can put none of it out to interest in the market of affection! But what is thus made plain to our apprehensions in the case of a foreign language is partially true even with the tongue we learned in childhood. Indeed, we all speak different dialects; one shall be copious and exact, another loose and meagre; but the speech of the ideal talker shall correspond and fit upon the truth of fact — not clumsily, obscuring lineaments, like a mantle, but cleanly adhering, like an athlete’s skin. And what is the result? That the one can open himself more clearly to his friends, and can enjoy more of what makes life truly valuable — intimacy with those he loves. An orator makes a false step; he employs some trivial, some absurd, some vulgar phrase; in the turn of a sentence he insults, by a side wind, those whom he is labouring to charm; in speaking to one sentiment he unconsciously ruffles another in parenthesis; and you are not surprised, for you know his task to be delicate and filled with perils. “O frivolous mind of man, light ignorance!” As if yourself, when you seek to explain some misunderstanding or excuse some apparent fault, speaking swiftly and addressing a mind still recently incensed, were not harnessing for a more perilous adventure; as if yourself required less tact and eloquence; as if an angry friend or a suspicious lover were not more easy to offend than a meeting of indifferent politicians! Nay, and the orator treads in a beaten round; the matters he discusses have been discussed a thousand times before; language is ready-shaped to his purpose; he speaks out of a cut and dry vocabulary. But you — may it not be that your defence reposes on some subtlety of feeling, not so much as touched upon in Shakespeare, to express which, like a pioneer, you must venture forth into zones of thought still unsurveyed, and become yourself a literary innovator? For even in love there are unlovely humours; ambiguous acts, unpardonable words, may yet have sprung from a kind sentiment. If the injured one could read your heart, you may be sure that he would understand and pardon; but, alas! the heart cannot be shown — it has to be demonstrated in words. Do you think it is a hard thing to write poetry? Why, that is to write poetry, and of a high, if not the highest, order.

Today, my talk is parasites part 2.

Parasites sometimes parasitize humans and cause disease, but there are also such studies that won the Nobel Prize.

—showing the pictures of the TV program produced in 1975 by NHK that drew a problem—

Men living in this village of Africa always lose their sight. Men living in this village cannot avoid losing their sight.

At that time in Africa, there was an endemic disease widely that cause people to become weaker of their eyesight gradually around their age 20, and lastly lose eyesight. Parasites are cause of the disease. Blackflies lay microfilaria larvae into people’s body, and then, microfilariae grow in human body. When microfilariae invade human eyes, people lose their eyesight.

It is professor Kimura who tackled this tough problem of extermination of the disease, and he succeeded. He won Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2015. He got an idea of utilizing ability of other organisms to exterminate the parasite.

His fundament of new drug development was the samples of soils that he had collected as much as 50,000. He continued research of finding microorganisms that may have potentiality to be used for drug development, slowly but steadily.

He, finally, found a new type of microorganism from the soil of the golf course in Shizuoka Prefecture, and succeeded in developing new remedy (medicine), that is “ivermectin”.

Professor Kimura tested substances produced from microorganisms on the parasite one after another and confirmed the affection for the parasite.

It is said that about 300 million people are released from
fear of blindness every year around the world.

This morning, I went to Asakusa to participate the volunteer event. It is the Yukata Wearing Experience, and our guide group has the contract with Sakura Hotel in Asakusa.

Sakura Hotel gathers foreigner participants  who want to wear yukata and to do the Bon festival Dance and taking pictures in front of Asakusa Sensoji temple. The event was held at Asakusa Public Hall. And the condition of participating volunteers of our group, they are able to help foreigners who participate in this event to wear yukata.

We took foreign tourists who participate the event form Sakura Hotel to Asakusa Public Hall. We had sixteen guests, less than our volunteers, five were men and eleven were women.

In Asakusa Public Hall, there is a very big tatami mat room. Our volunteer members prepared many yukata-sets and special tools such as Obi-ita, waist strings, Date-maki and other things.

The problem is that our Japanese yukata is smaller for some foreigners, but we made it. Fortunately, several our members brought very big size yukata. Our guests preferred yakatas with bright color, for example flowers of morning glory and other colorful patterns. They all looked fancy in Yukata.

At around Asakusa, if you want to rent and wear a yukata, you will have to pay around \3,000, even the cheapest one. Our group prepared all yukatas free of charge. In addition to that, our group has two skillful hair dressers. Many women participants had long hair, they put their hair up and made small chignon and decorated it with pretty and beautiful flower shaped accessory. They looked very happy.

We, after taking guests’ pictures in front of Asakusa Snsoji, came back to Asakusa public Hall again, and did Bon Festival Dance with music of Tankobushi in the tatami room. We all enjoyed it very much!

I would like to talk about a kind of bacteria. Have you ever heard of the name of bacteria: hemolytic streptococcus (溶血性連鎖球菌)?

It is said that they are common bacteria, but when my children were small, I never heard of that name. Last week, my grandson got the disease for it. At first, he said his throat had a little bit of pain, at that time, he did not have any fever, just normal temperature. But after, he started crying, saying that he could not open his mouth widely with throat pain. I took him to a doctor quickly.

The doctor checked his throat with cotton swabs and checked two tests of and pool fever (as it is called). The doctor said that he guessed that my grandson had infection by streptococci, not having cold.

The doctor, after writing the prescription for one week’s medicine, said to me that even if your grandson became recovery within a week, you should have him take all medicine.

After listening my explanation of the doctor’s diagnosis, my daughter said to me. “It’s very common disease recently, especially small kids.” And I came to know that adult people also can be infected by that bacteria.

It is said that the symptom by streptococcal infection in throat is similar the symptom of cold, for example, tonsillitis and others, but, when streptococcal infection appears in other parts of our body, it can be relatively heavy symptoms. Please take care and be healthy.

There are several unique and interesting sightseeing spots in Yotsuya area.

This time, I took a guest who came from U.S. to Yotsuya Arakicho. Have you ever been there? It was once a hanamachi. Recently, Yotsuya Arakicho becomes very popular among not only Japanese people but also foreign visitors because there are nice small restaurants, including Michelin’s three-star Japanese restaurant. I think that Arakicho is the town that has attractiveness like a labyrinth.

The guest stayed in an inn named “Tadaima Ryokan”. It was very difficult to find the inn because there is no striking landmark near the inn and the way to go there is very intricate.

There is a famous stone stairway of the Suga Shrine in Yotsuya. The stone steps are used in the last scene of the famous movie: Kimino Naha (Your Name). You can see many visitors there of Japanese and foreigners. Now, the way of stone steps to the shrine and around place of it have become the holy place of the movie fans after the movie was released.

And, do you know the Youunji: it is also called Oiwainari? It is the temple (and shrine)that is well known as the Enkiri- Dera. It means that when people visit the temple, bad relationships are cut off and good relationships are tied up firmly.

Oh, I should tell you there is the famous Taiyaki shop WAKABA in Yotsuya. The shop is said as one of the three best famous Taiyaki shops in Tokyo. (Taiyaki is a fish-shaped pancake with sweet red bean paste inside).

Lastly, I found a very unique small bar in Arakicho: It is the bar run by active Buddhist monks named “VOWZ BAR”. I’m so interested that I want to visit the bar someday and enjoy drinking and Buddhist sermon.

In a sense, if the robot simply takes all the jobs, it will be much easier. It may not be so easy for solutions to come up, but the scenery where millions of robot dog walkers and robot garbage collectors walk awkwardly in the crowd of people who have lost their jobs is at least easy to understand.

However, since the advancement of phenomenal technology in the digital age is progressing while refracting among various industrial organizations, it is difficult to understand the causal relationship. The new technology certainly contains the potential for reforming society and the economy. A new company that makes us feel that it will shift society to the path of that reform is definitely appearing. And the number of victims who become involved in the form of bankrupt companies and employees who are fired increases.

However, the system that we can use, the system that helped us well over the past 200 years has become a mechanism to reuse the excess capital and workers to another place. Workers who need money to live look for jobs and accept wage reductions unless absolutely necessary. For low wages, companies are attracted to using workers for work with low productivity (Note 1). (Somewhat)

This process will not end unless we have unexpectedly dramatic changes in the quality of technology or the quality of the economic institution.

【Introduction】

Everything was anything but this was somewhat too long an epigraph.

Still, you managed to get to this letter, you already felt impressed by reading “Money 2.0” written by Mr. Koyo Sato.

Or maybe some people are overwhelmed with too much content by reading Mr. Yoichi Ochiai’s “Japan revival strategy”.

Welcome coworkers and welcome.

Are you satisfied?

If you are satisfied, you do not have to bother to read this book.

So how was it?

Reading a human book that is much smarter than yourself is tough to be honest.

I can not refute, but I do not feel like I’m left behind.

And there are things that were slightly hazy.

This is a very kind book that is written to fill that feeling, Moyamoya.

There are no difficult mathematical expressions in this book.

However, I will quote numerous figures as “facts”. Most of the figures are those published by the government (or drafts displayed by Google search, consolidation information including melting and corrections, amendments etc., even if they are not published), anyone can check it at any time, even hidden It is not. By carefully reading such numbers, you will see the truth of the future.

There are many books of the future anticipation, but mostly it is a desire. Since the nation has to build a future as a policy, we collect all kinds of figures. The task of building a budget is the preparation itself for making the future. Ignoring such things and talking about the future, I will become a fairy tale, no matter how careful I do.

Discussions on taxation are already mentioned in a new framework for the expansion of gigs, economies, sharing and economies. However, it is a tranquil flow as to how to swim for inter-individual transactions that are not business-like.

Such a conference is held in November last year, but at the same time it is amazing that the concept of “human deduction” to fill up the difference between self-employed and salaried workers came out. It is consistent with the recognition that diversified working methods are becoming widely spread, not limited to gigs, economies, sharing and economy, and the day the salaryman’s income deduction and dependent spouse deduction is replaced with “human deduction” is so far There will be no.

The country is moving at a speed that the media can not keep up with.

I will tell the future by reading informal internal materials while going back and forth one page at a time for the addresses of semi-public documents of each ministry and agency. There is a future of Japan in Draft and melting material.

For example, it will be announced shortly, but administrative procedure platforms such as e-Tax and e-Gov will be consolidated into minor portal’s “perfect service”. According to the Fujitsu Power Point specified as draft, the specification of “perfect service” is not officially released, it is now possible to upload most data such as Excel, PDF, CSV, XML, Sales force company with its head office is building a system.

Notification is used for minor portal, post office MyPost is used for notice of return.

Here, “I thought local governments thought that Hitachi was strong, but I reduced the number of group companies, and Fujitsu is still strong in the electronic application system, but since I could not build a system on my own, do not get lost as to whether to buy or sell Mypost Is it so early to buy Japan Post because it’s free? “

But this book does not talk about stocks.

Here, why all people are released from money, enthusiastic about enthusiasm, can not proceed to a new era, seems like such solution seems to have been understood, while a little difficult story, “Money 2.0 Let’s write down what to think next day after reading.

But I refuse it first, but even if I read this book, I can not get anything if I do not do anything. You can not get something just by reading this book.

However, this book shows a clear way to reduce the population of Japan, the super aging society, and the nuclear missile problem of North Korea.

Then let’s also clarify the confounding “enemies” in front of “us”.

Unless we abandon Japan, we need to fight with these guys.

Even if they were not careful, they would have been free from money in the first place ….

By the way, if you want to get an environment where you can live for the time being, omitting the troublesome thing, I think that you should open a yakisoba store right now. Compared with ramen which took time to spare soup, yakisoba for frying ingredients and noodles with a mint source is really ecological food. I think that the curry of the Sukiya who tries the retort is the most efficient, but the fried noodles are not defeated in that the cost rate and utility cost can be saved. And since yakisoba is an indispensable item (3) at the festival, it is supposed to be a food that makes people happy.

Yakisoba shop will thrive all over the world. It will be able to sell even at the Olympic Games.

Bake yakisoba.

You can be a winner by itself.

○ Productivity (Note 1)

Although there are various explanations, productivity is an index of the ratio of input to output, how much added value can be created, and is always expressed as “Japan is less productive compared to the West”. As pointed out by Mr. Yoshikazu Ochiai, there is no such thing as “the West” in the first place, but if you think carefully, the idea of productivity itself is quite suspicious.

If added value is energy, I think that it is easier to understand the story.

In the first place it is possible to extract low energy from high energy, but can it be said that “it has produced added value”? A concept such as ‘added value’ is ambiguous in the first place.

How should we be able to distinguish “productivity” from things that seems to have raised sales with a little ingenuity?

The consulting farm that consulted the presentation of “avenomics” though a slightly meaning way of saying has brought about the result of several trillion yen, and the director of information collecting planning department of フ ェ イ ス ブ ッ ク (story if there is such a position) is minus seven trillion yen I wonder if it is that you have demonstrated productivity.

When an adviser who got aged got a high salary of 20 million yen, when he says that “we are less productive compared to competitors,” he says that when he preaches, he says, “Because you are sitting” It will be a murmuring of floating.

How do you compare the productivity of the holding company and the operating company, managerial and business, product development department and sales, or system administrator?

It seems necessary to rationalize the analysis of technology, performance evaluation, argument award, job analysis, work evaluation, personnel calculation of what finally gave profits to the company. Then, the Personnel Affairs Division is responsible for personnel change occupied by AI and “bloodless dullness”, and AI will also make a decision on the story of internal affair.

○ Ryan · agent (Note 2)

He has worked for the world economy of the economic magazine “Economist” who knows everyone except people who are not entirely interested in the economy for ten years, and is now a senior editor and economist columnist of the same magazine. The title “How the digital economy is mistaken for the way” as if to incite the laddite movement is a title, the original title is “surplus labor force and human wealth”.

Specifically, Mr. Sato, Mr. Ochiai exactly pointed out “Anxiety that the number of people who turn into surplus labor force will increase due to AI”, he points out.

Nonetheless, this claim does not stop dog-like role simply by biting ‘money 2.0’ or ‘Japan revitalization strategy’.

It should be noticed that it clearly points out the current situation that “unexpected dramatic change” is required as in the quoted part.

For example, President Kumagai of the GMO Internet has confirmed its compensation system as “a transparent invention.” If truly advanced technology such as recruitment, work appraisal, project management, conference, training, decision making and so on is put in place, the company will grow more and more and that tendency for Google and Amazon etc. .

Whether such things can be expanded to society and the state is a problem.

Mr. Yoshikazu Ochiai suggested that the cause of low productivity of Japanese companies is “white-collar uncle” that the large company grubbed, and that it would be possible to establish win-win relationship by outsourcing “white-collar uncle” to startup did.

But in fact the story that it will not work is written in “Washing in Japan again”.

“How does the digital economy go wrong?” Does not anticipate digital technology going to philosophy, politics, morality, or social ethics. (Although he finishes with optimism without showing concrete evidence at the end)

I drew an “unexpected dramatic change” in “washing in Japan again”, but he is definitely a realist.
